Project 365 - January and February 2011

March? Really? Already? Obviously, I haven't been updating here quite as regularly as I meant to (ahem) but I have been keeping up my Project 365, thank goodness. There have been those days when I just thought "To he...ck with it" but snapped something anyway. I don't want this year to be another failed attempt. So, I decided to post the monthly mosaics I love so much instead of the individual photos. I'll link to each photo on Flickr, if anyone is interested and we'll go from there. Aaaaaalrighty then!

Here is my mosaic for January:

And here is February, all in one neat little package:

February 26, 2011, 27. February 27, 2011, 28. February 28, 2011

I love looking at these mosaics! It's like the photos, all together like that, they just take on another dimension. A bit like having an entire wall in your house dedicated to framed photographs. It tells a story. It has really kept me going to think of these mosaics. I want to be able to look at all twelve of them at the end of the year and know that I made it. OK, OK, I know, still ten more months to go, but still, two consecutive months of photos everyday isn't bad, not bad at all!

Project 365, January 16 to January 21, 2011

It has been snowing quite a bit here lately and I've tried to spend a lot of time outside with the kids, which has been a lot of fun! Olivia is getting used to the snowsuit, boots, etc... She is not a Winter child that one! Annabelle and Tom are used to it what with school and everything.

Aaaaaanyway, here goes for a few more photos!

On January 16th, I took a photo of these lovely little pears we found at the supermarket. They are perfect for little hands and the kids just love them. And they look cute too!

On January 17th I had so much fun light painting with Thomas! He was just so cute, he had a blast just dancing around with his little light and checking out the photos after each one!

On January 18th I made won tons for the first time ever and they were delicious!

On January 19th I had no idea what to shoot so I decided on taking a picture of my ever camera loving Olivia!

On January 20th we went for a walk and Olivia had a great time making snow angels.

On January 21st well, I just decided to show Olivia doing what Olivia does best... Not stand still! And having fun with grandma too!

I think I realised why I procrastinated for so long about posting my photos here; I think I'm not "satisfied" with my pics. Not that I don't like them but I just don't think they're Project 365 worthy, you know? As if I had to take the "perfect" pic everyday. Well, I guess there is no such thing and I'll have to accept the fact that some days, I'll have to work harder to be inspired. I will try my best to find beauty in the ordinary, I think that's going to be the key to getting through the entire year. Be back soon(ish) with more!

Project 365, January 10 to January 15, 2011

So today I decided I should maybe do a post with 6 instead of 3 photos because, well, I'm running a bit behind, aren't I? January is going a little better, it's been snowing lately and the temperatures are supposed to go even lower than they have been. Something like -30 degrees Celsius next week! Brrrrrrr!!! Guess we'll be staying bundled up indoors, might be a good time to get baking!

On January 10th, I had some fun taking pics of my afternoon coffee with the sun coming through my kitchen window. I think it looks just perfect in black and white.

On January 11th I was in serious need of a healthy dose of vitamin C so I whipped up a quick fruit salad with oranges, pineapples, grapefruit, bananas and apples. It was seriously good.

Then on January 12th I was helping Tom out with his homework and I thought he looked so cute all concentrated, I just had to snap a pic!

On January 13th, I baked this apple coffee cake with maple glaze for my other blog's 3rd anniversary, which is on the 14th. Again, seriously gooooood cake! The recipe is here, if you're interested...

We stayed in on January 14th and when the kids came home from school, all Annabelle wanted to do was sit and read. You'd think she'd have had enough in school all day, but no. Go figure!

On January 15th, I was just not inspired until the end of the day when I took out my tripod and did a little night photography. This is the view from my kitchen window, at night.

So there! This week is a little busier than usual as it's Tom's birthday this Sunday (January 23rd) and he invited several of his friends. Who knows, there might be more cake pictures in the very near future. Stay tuned!

Project 365, January 7 to January 9, 2011

I'm finding January has decided to be pretty tough with me this year. I have 3 sick kiddos, have not gone out this weekend, at all, and I decided to take down my Christmas decorations tonight, which I really didn't feel like doing. Ah, well, that's life for ya. Still here are my 3 pics...

On January 7th, I decided to take a pic of my Christmas tree because I just love to stare at the lights, it helps me relax. I might just look at this pic a lot...

January 8th, we stayed in (yay! NOT...) and watched movies. I made cookies from cookie batter I had in the freezer, which comes in very handy when you need something quick, sweet and comforting, like warm cookies and ice cream.

Tonight, January 9th, I finally gave in and put away the Christmas decorations. That really is the part I dislike the most about Christmas, the "after-Christmas", the dull, no lights, no color, grey and cold, worst part of Winter.

I am just a little ray of sunshine tonight, aren't I? I'll get over it, I promise. I'll be back all cheerful and happy real soon.

Project 365, January 4 to January 6, 2011

So here I am for my second installment of Project 365. So far so good!

On January 4th, we went shopping for a new snow suit for Tom and I took my camera to the Mall. We stopped for a coffee break and while Martin got our orders I snapped pictures of the kids making silly faces. Olivia loves making silly faces!

On January 5th it was back to work for Martin but I still had one day left with the kids. We decided to take out all our crafting supplies and make robots as Annabelle had to make one to take back to class. I think I'll write up a post to show you guys the results, we had so much fun!

And on January 6th it was back to school for Annabelle and Tom so Olivia and I went for a walk in the afternoon. It was so cold! She really wanted to come back home! I did have time to take a few photos of these gorgeous little flowers. I don't know what it is about them but they fascinate me.

Still haven't taken my pic for today, I'm trying real hard to get inspired! Hopefully I'll find something...

New Year, New Projects

I was thinking it might be fun this year to feature the photos from my 365 project on this blog. And it might be fun to see just how long this resolution lasts! OK, so I'll try it like this, 3 days' worth of pics in one post so as not to set myself up for failure by having to post every single day... Not to say that I won't post anything but my 365 photos but at least this gives me something to start the year with. Here goes!

On January first, we stayed in and the kids played with their Christmas gifts all day. Tom got so many Lego Bionicles and Hero Factory, he pretty much went to Lego Heaven!

On January second, we met one of my best friends at the Musée des Beaux Arts in Québec to see paintings from Picasso, Dali, Miro and many more incredible artists. It felt so good to talk to the kids about the paintings and to see them interested in art. Then we went for a walk in Old Québec. The atmosphere on Rue St-Jean is always the same, be it Summer or Winter. Pedestrians thinking they can cross the street just about anywhere and drivers getting so frustrated about it and the fact that it's their 3rd time around the street trying to find a parking space! But still, I love it.

And then on January 3rd, since my better half didn't have to start work until the 5th (that's today, sadly), we decided to stay in a Holidays kind of mood with a glass of red and pizza for dinner. Sound good, no?

So that's it for now, hopefully there are still a few of you out there who believed I wouldn't let this blog die and we can get a conversation going! Feel free to comment on the pics, here or on Flickr, all in good fun! Be back soon!

Finally, that Butterfly Hat

There it is! The famed Butterfly Hat. I love this pattern soooooo much! I could knit one for every little girl I know and I wouldn't get tired of it. And this color is just so cute on Olivia. I love, love, love it! I need to pick a cute color and make one for myself, now that my two daughters have one.

My mom made little mittens to match the hat. Cute, right? I need to try making mittens, they seem so complicated to me, a bit like socks. Is that weird?

I'm still working on my Clapotis. I had a hard time at first but I finally "get" the pattern. About time. I'll try to post an update soon. I haven't been knitting much lately, I have a cold, which makes me forgetful and I don't want to mess up the pattern. Off to make myself a cup of tea!
