Really? Already? Obviously, I haven't been updating here <span style="font-style: italic;">quite</span> as regularly as I meant to (ahem) but I have been keeping up my <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/lybouchard/sets/72157625612140413/"><span style="font-weight: bold;">Project 365</span></a>, thank goodness. There have been those days when I just thought "To he...ck with it" but snapped something anyway. I don't want this year to be another failed attempt. So, I decided to post the monthly mosaics I love so much instead of the individual photos. I'll link to each photo on Flickr, if anyone is interested and we'll go from there. Aaaaaalrighty then!<br /><br />Here is my mosaic for January:<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5220/5407688693_f8f8fa553e_z.jpg"><img style="display: block; It's like the photos, all together like that, they just take on another dimension. A bit like having an entire wall in your house dedicated to framed photographs. It tells a story. It has really kept me going to think of these mosaics. I want to be able to look at all twelve of them at the end of the year and know that I made it. OK, OK, I know, still ten more months to go, but still, two consecutive months of photos everyday isn't bad, not bad at all!<br /></span>LyBhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17504659088765433358noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8780857292972701564.post-28667785661623434512011-02-08T15:05:00.003-05:002011-02-08T15:26:34.678-05:00Project 365, January 16 to January 21, 2011<span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);font-size:100%;" ><span style="font-family:verdana;">It has been snowing quite a bit here lately and I've tried to spend a lot of time outside with the kids, which has been a lot of fun! So far so good!</span><br /><br /><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);font-family:verdana;" >On January 4th, we went shopping for a new snow suit for Tom and I took my camera to the Mall. And it might be fun to see just how long this resolution lasts! OK, so I'll try it like this, 3 days' worth of pics in one post so as not to set myself up for failure by having to post every single day... Not to say that I won't post anything but my 365 photos but at least this gives me something to start the year with. Here goes!</span> <span style="font-family:verdana;"><br /><br />On January first, we stayed in and the kids played with their Christmas gifts all day. Tom got so many Lego Bionicles and Hero Factory, he pretty much went to Lego Heaven!<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5250/5319865067_c5ac4dbfea_z.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 640px; height: 443px;" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5250/5319865067_c5ac4dbfea_z.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a></span> <span style="font-family:verdana;"><br />On January second, we met one of my best friends at the Musée des Beaux Arts in Québec to see paintings from Picasso, Dali, Miro and many more incredible artists. It felt so good to talk to the kids about the paintings and to see them interested in art. Then we went for a walk in Old Québec. The atmosphere on Rue St-Jean is always the same, be it Summer or Winter. Pedestrians thinking they can cross the street just about anywhere and drivers getting so frustrated about it and the fact that it's their 3rd time around the street trying to find a parking space! But still, I love it.<br /><br /></span> <span style="font-family:verdana;"><span style="font-size:100%;"><span style="font-family:verdana;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5168/5320466520_10bea072cb_z.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 424px; height: 640px;" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5168/5320466520_10bea072cb_z.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a></span></span><br />And then on January 3rd, since my better half didn't have to start work until the 5th (that's today, sadly), we decided to stay in a Holidays kind of mood with a glass of red and pizza for dinner. Sound good, no?<br /><br /><span style="font-size:100%;"><span style="font-family:verdana;"><span style="font-size:100%;"><span style="font-family:verdana;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5203/5322108628_f46bc9d9c9_z.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 406px; height: 640px;" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5203/5322108628_f46bc9d9c9_z.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a></span></span></span></span></span> <span style="font-family:verdana;"><br />So that's it for now, hopefully there are still a few of you out there who believed I wouldn't let this blog die and we can get a conversation going! Feel free to comment on the pics, here or on Flickr, all in good fun! Be back soon!</span> </span>LyBhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17504659088765433358noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8780857292972701564.post-86032748298159380682009-11-16T15:19:00.005-05:002009-11-16T15:41:29.053-05:00Finally, that Butterfly Hat<span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: verdana;font-size:100%;" >There it is! And, I've also made the <a style="font-weight: bold;" href="http://aliceindilbertland.blogspot.com/2007/11/butterfly-hat.html">Butterfly Hat</a> I wanted to make for my little one and I will post pictures soon, promise. It is so cute! </span><br /><br /><a style="font-family: verdana; color: rgb(0, 0, 0);" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2551/4031496343_d853f661c4.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 420px; height: 280px;" src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2551/4031496343_d853f661c4.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);font-family:verdana;" >OK, now for the matter at hand. I just started a <a style="font-weight: bold;" href="http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEfall04/PATTclapotis.html">Clapotis</a> and the pattern calls for 18 stitch markers. All I have are plastic markers with a notch in them and they kept grabbing onto my yarn, so I decided to make my own stitch markers.</span><br /><br /><a style="font-family: verdana; color: rgb(0, 0, 0);" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2508/4032249282_b111f8f31b.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 420px; height: 280px;" src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2508/4032249282_b111f8f31b.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);font-family:verdana;" >To make the stitch markers, you will need a 3 1/4 inch length of bead stringing wire (tigertail), a metal spacer, a glass bead and a crimp bead for each marker. And a pair of pliers. You can use whatever colors and beads you like, just make sure to choose beads that are smooth and not too heavy.</span><br /><br /><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);font-family:verdana;" > </span><a style="font-family: verdana; color: rgb(0, 0, 0);" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2475/4032249528_f61a144e8d.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 420px; height: 280px;" src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2475/4032249528_f61a144e8d.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);font-family:verdana;" >Take your length of wire, fold it in half to form a loop. Slip the metal spacer onto the folded wire, then the bead and then the crimp. Make sure the ends of the wire are covered by the crimp and use your pliers to flatten the crimp bead. Voilà! Your very own stitch marker. Make as many as you need, all of them the same or all different colors, have fun and happy knitting!</span><br /></span>LyBhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17504659088765433358noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8780857292972701564.post-64212691151395858552009-09-30T11:34:00.003-04:002009-09-30T11:41:46.243-04:00Knitting! Well, the Holidays are over and I have to say I wish they could have lasted a little while longer. I didn't have a chance to "create" much but oh, wow, did I get to relax, at home, with my family. We hadn't been able to do that in a long time. We caught up with friends and family and enjoyed every second of our Holiday vacation. But since all good things must come to an end, it is back to school, back to work, back to a normal routine.</span><br /><br /><a style="font-family: verdana;" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3453/3177001958_c5fbc47d55.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3453/3177001958_c5fbc47d55.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><span style="font-family: verdana;">I haven't been "wrecking" much lately but I have a few pages that I did last month and didn't take the time to post. So today, I offer you the "Create a non-stop line" page. I had a lot of fun doing it! I thought a lot about how I would go about it and I debated weather I should just scribble and then color in or do something "recognizable".</span><br /><br /><a style="font-family: verdana;" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3094/3177002502_4b00efbc9f.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3094/3177002502_4b00efbc9f.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><span style="font-family: verdana;">I really like how it turned out. Doing this, I realized how much I missed drawing. I used to draw and paint all the time but now there is just not much time for that. I'll try to find more time to do those things, they're good for my brain.</span><br /><br /><a style="font-family: verdana;" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3471/3176166847_0f2391e4e4.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3471/3176166847_0f2391e4e4.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><a style="font-family: verdana;" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3453/3177001958_c5fbc47d55.jpg"><br /></a></span>LyBhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17504659088765433358noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8780857292972701564.post-55961822270134878692008-12-11T15:37:00.004-05:002008-12-11T16:01:12.881-05:00Take Two<span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);font-size:100%;" ><span style="font-family:verdana;">I could not have picked a worst time to start a second blog. Really, I didn't tell myself "Hey, I'm gonna start a new blog and then not write a post for weeks. That'll be fun!". No, I had every intention of doing a few posts a week, well, at least one. But <a href="http://andthenidothedishes.blogspot.com/2008/11/i-just-wasnt-ready-for-this.html">life got in the way</a> and I didn't feel like or have time to write or be creative in any way. So now, I'm starting again. I feel a little more like myself these days and last night, inspiration presented itself in a quite unusual way.</span></span><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);font-size:100%;" > <span style="font-family:verdana;"><br /><br /></span></span><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_vH8RryFIAWU/SUF9yQd_Y0I/AAAAAAAABNI/ncIguzvhjfU/s1600-h/GreenNecklace3.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_vH8RryFIAWU/SUF9yQd_Y0I/AAAAAAAABNI/ncIguzvhjfU/s320/GreenNecklace3.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5278638540622619458" border="0" /></a><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);font-size:100%;" ><span style="font-family:verdana;">I was watching a rerun episode of <a href="http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0460627/">Bones</a>, and Dr. Brennan (played by <a href="http://us.imdb.com/name/nm0221043/">Emily Deschanel</a>) was wearing this fabulous necklace. She always has the most incredible pieces of jewelry and this particular necklace was made of <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agates">agates</a> (I think) and had a detailed rectangular focal piece. I knew I had agates, not the same color as her necklace which was shades of dark amber, but I wasn't sure about having a focal piece that would fit.<br /><br /></span></span><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_vH8RryFIAWU/SUF9xvJaCYI/AAAAAAAABNA/-PQEAdzIMZ4/s1600-h/GreenNecklace2.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_vH8RryFIAWU/SUF9xvJaCYI/AAAAAAAABNA/-PQEAdzIMZ4/s320/GreenNecklace2.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5278638531677915522" border="0" /></a><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);font-size:100%;" > </span><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);font-size:100%;" ><span style="font-family:verdana;">After a bit of rummaging in my goodies closet I found what I was looking for and my necklace was underway. A length of green beading wire, a few silver spacers, a nice clasp and voilà! It was done in under an hour and I love it! It's very comfortable, the agates are so soft. I even wore it today with a black shirt for a special day at Tom's pre-K class. Just goes to show that inspiration comes in many different forms and that perhaps TV doesn't just soften our brains after all!<br /><br /></span></span><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_vH8RryFIAWU/SUF9xNrnfYI/AAAAAAAABM4/ZnYaHjkVbL0/s1600-h/GreenNecklace1.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_vH8RryFIAWU/SUF9xNrnfYI/AAAAAAAABM4/ZnYaHjkVbL0/s320/GreenNecklace1.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5278638522694598018" border="0" /></a>LyBhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17504659088765433358noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8780857292972701564.post-46697370487334786452008-11-12T11:27:00.000-05:002008-11-12T11:28:06.138-05:00A Good Place to Start<span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);font-family:verdana;font-size:100%;" ><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">Having recently decided to get myself a <a href="http://www.amazon.ca/Wreck-This-Journal-Keri-Smith/dp/039953346X/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1226506404&sr=8-1">Wreck This Journal</a>, I thought it might also be fun to start this blog to chronicle the process. </span>I won't limit myself to the journal though, I'll also post about other creative endeavors, if there are any!<br /><br /></span><a style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3160/3019762800_de9b151bc3.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 500px; height: 375px;" src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3160/3019762800_de9b151bc3.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);font-family:verdana;font-size:100%;" >I'll also try not to be a perfectionist about this, as one of the reasons I got the journal was to rid myself of some of my perfectionist tendencies.
